First things first — why are we here?
Unfortunately, auditors are feared as unpleasant adversaries — mostly because the word "auditor" gets associated with IRS audits. Not many have had pleasant experiences with those.
But auditors in the CPA profession can be different. Our mission is to examine evidence supporting financial information so we can give others assurance on it. No unpleasantness required.
That puts us naturally in the position of trusted advisor on financial accounting, internal controls, and audit-related matters. And although we're independent and objective, our greatest joy resides in helping — not hunting — our clients.
